Your Pokemon need to be fed, and we do expect to see an occasional feeding scene from you, but other than that, don't worry about it. Likewise you need to eat, and we expect you to have a scene where you eat something just to remind everyone of that fact, but other than that, don't worry about it. It's assumed Pokecenters offer free pokefeed, so don't worry about purchasing it. When you visit, it's assumed you let your pokemon feed.
What you do need to worry about however is your items, and money. You need to keep track of these in your profile, as well as your pokemon stats, which should be secret and unknown to everyone but the moderator and yourself. If you use an antidote on a pokemon, it will be used up, and you will have yourself an empty potion bottle. Likewise if you spend money, it's gone.
Some trainers place bets to see who wins, others do not. You don't always make money from battling, but Pokecenters are free of charge. You'll have to find some way to make money, and find places to sleep and eat at. Maybe you put on shows with your pokemon, who knows.
You'll need to find a way to meet your basic needs when out traveling and being a trainer.
There's always Team Rocket, maybe they're hiring.
